  • And so begins the balancing act called: Back to Work.

    balance

This is the first time since April of 1996 that I have worked fulltime outside the home.  I am wondering how I will handle it all.

And yes, I know that school was a fulltime commitment…..But it seems a bit different from the steady day-in/day-out of working fulltime.

And when will I ever have time to blog?!

  • I am confident that you will be able to handle it. Reasons work will be easier than school:

    - much shorter and more predictable commute
    - much snazzier car :)
    - when you get home, no guilt, your time is your own
    - you will not be constantly stretching your mind to learn brand new things at work (so you will have more time for that sort of burst of energy on your own terms, about self-chosen subjects)
    - you will be able to specialize and delve into projects, people, and details more thoroughly before being rushed onto the next thing
    - you will be able to build relationships with your peers and others, and not have so much turnover
    - the rhythm of your weeks and months will not involve such a crushing pattern of extremely intense time commitment followed by eerie empty spaces
    - you’ll have a chance to apply a bunch of the knowledge that you gained and mastered, acing your entire degree program!!!

I honestly think it will be easier in many ways. Different, but better. Good luck!
